Nick Blackburn is one of those guys that goes in and gets the job done, day in and day out, but you hardly know. One solid indicator that a pitcher is doing well is to look and see how deep into a game he is going. Blackburn has pitched 7+ innings in 12 of his last 15 starts. He went 8 innings back on June 11th vs this same Oakland team, but was on the losing end of a 3-4 loss. He should get a little more run support today with Gio Gonzalez starting for Oakland. Gonzalez has been in terrible form, especially at home where opposing teams are hitting .447 against him in his only two home starts. Now he faces a Twins team that his hitting .292 and scoring 7.23 runs a game vs lefties over their last 5. The Twins will have no mercy. In fact they are a solid 4-1 over their last 5 road games, while the A's are 3-9 over their last 12 at home. Let's use Minnesota as our West Coast Winner for Monday.
